4 Surface Normal Vector of a Triangle

We denote vectors in 3-Space (3-vectors) by using boldface, and their \( x \), \( y \) and \( z \) coordinates with subscripts. For example, the vector \( \mathbf{v} \) has coordinates \( v_{x} \), \( v_{y} \) and \( v_{z} \).

The material in this section can be found in any elementary text on vectors, such as [2, Section 5.1, Page 161] or [3, Chapter 11].
